Thank you NYT for not endorsing Giuliani →
“The real Mr. Giuliani, whom many New Yorkers came to know and mistrust, is a narrow, obsessively secretive, vindictive man who saw no need to limit police power. Racial polarization was as much a legacy of his tenure as the rebirth of Times Square.”

Rate cuts alone — even one as deep as Tuesday’s — are unlikely to provide a powerful enough fix, especially given the severe problems in the housing market. Rate cuts cannot forestall foreclosures, turn bad loans into good ones or undo the worse effects of the housing bust on consumer spending. At best, rate cuts may buy some time for the economy to stabilize without being derailed along the way...

Watched Cloverfield. I couldn’t get past the fact that they nearly got EVERYTHING wrong about the geography of New York City. - Trailer has the ‘monster’ destroying Statue of Liberty - Trailer then has monster destroying a building near the Empire State Building (34th St. and Fifth Ave.) - In the movie, the camera pans to the other end of the street, and we see the Chrysler...

According to this website, which does a quiz of your important issues and politicians’ views on those issues, apparently:1. Mike Gravel shares a 89% similarity with my beliefs. 2. Dennis Kucinich shares an 87% similarity with my beliefs.  3. Hillary Clinton shares a 79% similarity with my beliefs. (And then John Edwards and Barack Obama were after that)  Pretty cool! It also uses quotes in...

Re: Hillary showing tears today →
I got a slew of different responses when I asked Pownce users about Hillary showing emotion today. It’s interesting in a lot of ways. Some people hate her guts and think it’s uncharacteristic and insincere for her to tear up like that in public. Other people think she’s trying to appeal to the Obama audience but is failing miserably. All this time I haven’t chosen a...

Draft Bloomberg! →
Petition to get Mike Bloomberg to run for Pres. Even if realistically he would not win, and even if realistically he would probably doom the Democrats. And even if Hillary is not the Democratic nominee. Hmm. Maybe I want him to run not only because I agree with nearly all of his viewpoints, but because I want this presidential race to not be “choose the less evil side” like it’s...

A lot of very optimistic people seem to think that Barack Obama will win the New Hampshire primary on Tuesday. From polling alone, it sure seems like Obama has a lot of momentum, and without a doubt he got a significant boost from the Iowa caucuses…like 5 points alone since the results came out. Now he’s neck-and-neck with Clinton. Wow, just wow.
